What a stump costs.
We do not publish a price list, because a stump you have not shown us is a number we would be making up. What we can do is tell you exactly what moves the figure up and down, so nothing on the estimate surprises you.
In roughly this order.
1 · How wide the stump is
Measured across the cut face at ground level, in inches. This is the single biggest factor, because it is what decides how much wood the wheel has to turn into chips. Most of the trade prices off this number, and so do we.
A thirty-inch oak is not twice the work of a fifteen-inch one. It is more.

2 · How many you have
Stumps get cheaper each as the count goes up, because the drive out, the trailer, the unload and the setup are the same whether there is one or twenty. If you have a row of them, or a whole field, that is the job where the per-stump number falls hardest.
One stump to a hundred. Count them before you call.

3 · How hard it is to get to
A stump beside the driveway is a different job to one behind a narrow gate, up a bank, or wedged between a shed and a fence. Access does not usually stop us, but it does cost time.
Same for what is around it: stone, sprinkler heads, a meter, a septic lid. We work slower where slow is the right speed.

4 · How far we drive
We travel throughout Central and North Mississippi and the trailer does not tow itself. Distance is part of the figure, which is another reason a group of stumps in one place beats a single stump a long way out.
No line items you were not expecting.
- Grinding the stump out below grade
- Pushing the grindings back into the hole with the front blade
- Raking the mound out so it is level enough to walk on
- The estimate itself, which is free
What is not included by default
- Hauling the grindings away. They stay on site unless you ask before we start.
- Topsoil, seed or turf over the top. That is a separate conversation.
- Surface root chasing away from the stump, unless we agree it up front.
Call, and have three things ready.
- How many stumps. An honest count, including the small ones.
- Roughly how wide across the top. Pace it, or hold a tape on it.
- How the machine gets in. Gate width, steps, slope, soft ground.
With those three, Lance can usually give you a straight answer on the phone. For anything unusual he will come and look, and looking is free.
Free estimate, no obligation.
It costs nothing to find out. Call and describe what you have got, or send the details and a photo through the contact page.
